How Class D Suppression Works
Specialized Crusting Agent: Discharges specialized dry powder (such as sodium chloride-based or copper-based compounds) that forms an oxygen-excluding crust over the molten metal, smothering the fire and conducting heat away.
Low-Velocity Soft-Flow Applicator: Equipped with an extended applicator wand and low-velocity discharge nozzle. This allows the operator to stand at a safe distance and gently deposit powder over the fire without dispersing burning metal chips, swarf, or dust into the air (preventing secondary dust explosions).
Common Industrial Applications
Precision Engineering & Machining: CNC milling, grinding, and turning of light metals (magnesium, titanium, aluminum alloys).
Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing: Facilities handling fine reactive metal powders and sintering waste.
Aerospace & Marine Fabrication: Component manufacturing and structural welding workshops.
Laboratories & Testing Facilities: Chemical research and metallurgical inspection environments handling reactive alkali metals (sodium, potassium, lithium).
Make sure to remove the safety pin first, or otherwise you will not be able to discharge the content and stop the fire.
Direct the nozzle towards the source of the flame and activate the handle. Make a sweeping motion to make sure that you are covering the area well.
Fire safety products are essential for protecting your business. Do not leave things to chance and purchase the fire extinguishers you need.
