Life-Saving Device

An automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a lifesaving portable device that diagnoses your heart of Cardiac arrhythmias and ventricular fibrillation and treats it. It is a must-have equipment in the home/office if a heart patient susceptible to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is present. The conditions are so severe that in a few minutes, death or permanent damage to brain cells can occur.

Ventricular fibrillation is an uncoordinated contraction of cardiac muscle in the heart of the patient. This condition results in a quivering motion of the heart rather than contracting properly. The blood supply seizes in such a case and the condition of cardiac arrest is fulfilled. If this condition is left untreated, ventricular fibrillation develops asystole in which the heart seizes to beat. It is the worst condition to be in. An AED device is required urgently before this stage.  There is usually no time to take the patient to the hospital. Hence it is necessary to keep the device at home/office etc.

AED treats asystole through defibrillation. It uses electrical therapy which helps in stopping arrhythmia and restoring effective rhythm. It restores the rhythmic motion of your heart back to normal.

How AED Saves Lives

Your AED will be used for treating the following life-threatening conditions caused by arrhythmias; Pulseless Ventricular tachycardia and Ventricular fibrillation. In both these types of cardiac arrhythmia, the heart shows a dysfunctional pattern in which it is not allowed to pump the blood and circulate through the body. The heart is in an electrically active state. In ventricular tachycardia, the heart starts beating so fast that it is unable to pump the blood accurately. This behavior of heart is due to chaotic electrical activity which prevents it from pumping the blood. AEDs are not designed to pulsate asystole in flat line patterns because it will not have any positive effect. A combination of cardiac stimulant drug and CPR are necessary to establish shockable rhythms.

Method of Operation

The AED is very easy to use. A typical operator can begin defibrillation within seconds. If the heart rate is too slow, more sophisticated manual and semi-automatic defibrillators are available to be used by professional doctors who also acts as a pacemaker. The condition of patients is usually automatically analyzed by our modern semi-automatic AED units. We do provide the AED units which have voice assistants and visual displays in order to instruct the user. It consists of electrode pads that are to be pressed on the chest of the patient. When you turn on the AED machine, it will automatically guide you through the procedure.

The first step is to connect electrode pads to the patient. Once the pads are attached, the patient should not be touched by other people in order to avoid any wrong signals. The pads give signals to the AED unit which further determines if the patient is in ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia. This AED unit determines when the shock is needed and charges its capacitor in order to deliver the shock. Pressing the button will discharge the current to the patient.

Selecting AED Device for Your Home/Office/Mall

For working adults who knows how to operate an AED device, semi-automatic system is cost saving. In this system, the shock has to be done manually. Usually, we would recommend offices and work areas use this product.

Fully automatic machines are recommended for homes with lone patients, a heart patient may only have time to put the pads on himself but may have gone into shock before he is able to press the button. A full-auto AED is able to determine the conditions once pads are placed and delivers the shock itself.

Precautions

Once the capacitor is charged, our built-in precaution system in the AED will instruct the user(s) not to touch the body of the patient. The user has to be calm and attentive making sure the area is clear as there are chances that other people might be touching the patient and get the shock at the time of discharge. Our AED system does not deliver a full shock of 400 joules directly to the patient because it can cause second and third degree burn. Rather, there is a lower waveform algorithm that gives two sequential shocks of low energy (200 joules). The shocks move in opposite polarity. This reduces any type of injury and burns. Our AED systems are fully safe and secure to use. AED is a life-saving device and it must be present in homes/offices/malls etc.
